Race Description
The Wachau Half Marathon follows a remarkably flat and fast point-to-point route right through the heart of the Wachau Valley, a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site. The race starts in the medieval town of Spitz an der Donau and hugs the left bank of the Danube River the entire way to the finish line in the historic city of Krems. Runners follow long, smooth stretches of paved road, passing charming riverside villages, ancient castle ruins, and terraced vineyards that produce some of the region's most famous wines. The combination of a gentle downstream trajectory, uninterrupted riverside paths, and spectacular scenery makes it a perfect course for both beginners looking for an easy route and seasoned runners chasing a fast time.
