Race Description
The Columbus Marathon takes runners on a scenic tour through Ohio’s capital city, starting and finishing in downtown Columbus and passing many of the city’s most recognizable neighborhoods and landmarks. The course travels through areas such as German Village, Bexley, Upper Arlington, Grandview Heights, and The Ohio State University, offering a varied view of the city’s historic districts, residential streets, and campus areas. Runners pass notable landmarks including the Ohio Statehouse and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, with the latter playing a central role in the race’s mission. Each mile of the course is dedicated to a patient from Nationwide Children’s Hospital, with families and supporters cheering along the route, creating a powerful and emotional atmosphere throughout the race. The course features rolling terrain with minimal elevation changes, while offering a few gradual rises, particularly in the second half. Strong community support, well-organized logistics, and meaningful storytelling along the route make the Columbus Marathon both a competitive and inspiring race experience.
