Sofia Half Marathon

The Sofia Half Marathon takes runners through the streets of Bulgaria’s capital, showcasing a blend of historic landmarks and modern urban districts. The race starts and finishes in Knyaz Alexander I Square, in the heart of the city center, and follows a looped course through Sofia’s main boulevards and central avenues. Along the route, runners pass several notable landmarks including the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the National Palace of Culture, Vasil Levski National Stadium, and green areas such as Borisova Gradina Park. The course is run entirely on paved city roads and features a mostly flat profile with a few gentle elevation changes typical of Sofia’s wide boulevards, allowing runners to maintain a steady pace throughout the race. Participants experience both the historic and contemporary sides of the city as the route connects major squares, government buildings, and open avenues.
