Race Description
Göteborgsvarvet is one of the largest half marathons in the world and takes runners through the Swedish port city of Gothenburg. The race begins near Slottsskogen park before heading through several districts and along sections of the city’s harbor. One of the defining features of the course is the crossing of the large Älvsborg Bridge, which introduces a long and noticeable climb followed by a gradual descent. Additional smaller bridges and rolling sections appear later in the race. Between these climbs, runners enjoy long urban stretches through lively neighborhoods and waterfront areas. The route finishes near Slottsskogen after covering 21.1 kilometers through much of the city. The combination of major bridges, city streets, and huge crowds makes the race both challenging and highly atmospheric.
