Race Description
The Detroit Free Press International Half Marathon offers a unique, cross-border route between the United States and Canada. Starting in downtown Detroit, the paved course takes runners up a significant climb over the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Ontario, providing sweeping views of the Detroit River skyline. After a flat, scenic stretch along the Windsor waterfront, runners return to the U.S. via the "underwater mile" in the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, which features a steep descent and a challenging half-mile climb back up to street level. Aside from the bridge and the tunnel, the remainder of the course is exceptionally flat, concluding with a fast finish back in downtown Detroit.
