Race Description
The Athora Bruges Half Marathon offers a remarkably flat and fast route that showcases the historic charm of the "Venice of the North." Starting in the shadow of the Concertgebouw at 't Zand, the course winds through the UNESCO-listed city center, taking runners across picturesque canals, over cobblestone streets, and past medieval architecture. The route extends outward to the charming medieval town of Damme, running alongside the scenic Damse Vaart canal before returning for a spectacular finish at the iconic Market Square beneath the Belfry. The exceptionally flat terrain (near sea level) is highly favorable for setting personal bests, though runners must stay mindful of pacing over historic cobblestone sections and sharp city turns.
