Race Description
The Wellington Marathon takes place along the scenic waterfront of New Zealand’s capital city. The race starts and finishes near Sky Stadium and follows an out-and-back course around Wellington Harbour. Runners pass many of the city’s best-known landmarks, including Te Papa, Oriental Bay and Queens Wharf. The route continues along the harbour shoreline toward the Miramar Peninsula, offering views of the surrounding hills and coastline. Known for its flat and fast profile, the course is certified by World Athletics and AIMS. Participants run along waterfront paths, city streets and seaside promenades while enjoying the coastal scenery. The race attracts runners from across New Zealand and internationally. With its harbour views, city atmosphere and spectator support, the Wellington Marathon offers a memorable running experience in the heart of the capital.
