Race Description
The Vienna Marathon takes place in Vienna, Austria, with a course that passes many of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. The race starts on the Reichsbrücke bridge and heads toward the city center, passing the Prater and the Riesenrad Ferris wheel. The route continues through central Vienna by the Vienna State Opera, the Secession building, and Schönbrunn Palace before moving past Rathaus, the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, and the Lusthaus in the Prater. The course is largely flat with gentle elevation changes, with the highest point occurring around the middle of the race. The marathon finishes near the Burgtheater in the historic city center.
