Race Description
The Twin Cities Marathon is known for its scenic, point-to-point course from Minneapolis to St. Paul, often described as one of the most beautiful urban marathons in the United States. The first half is relatively steady with rolling terrain, passing lakes and parkways that allow for a controlled rhythm. Elevation remains fairly consistent through the middle miles, with small undulations but no major climbs. The defining feature comes late in the race: a sustained uphill stretch between approximately miles 20–23, where runners gradually climb to the course high point. After this section, the course trends slightly downhill or flat into the finish in St. Paul. The late climb makes pacing strategy critical despite the otherwise runnable profile.
