Race Description
The San Sebastián Marathon takes place in the coastal city of San Sebastián in Spain’s Basque Country, offering runners a scenic and fast urban course through one of Spain’s most picturesque seaside destinations. The race starts on Hernani Street in the city centre and finishes on the Boulevard, both located in the heart of San Sebastián. The route runs through central boulevards and along the Urumea River before heading toward the iconic La Concha Bay and the Antiguo neighbourhood, then looping back through districts such as Amara, Anoeta, downtown, and Gros. Along the way runners pass several of the city’s landmark sites, including the Victoria Eugenia Theatre, the Cathedral of Buen Pastor, Anoeta Stadium, the Kursaal, and Plaza Guipúzkoa. The course consists of multiple laps and is known for its wide streets and flat layout, including a final straight of more than one kilometre leading to the finish line, making it one of the faster marathon courses in Spain. The race takes place in late November with typically cool and favourable running conditions, with average temperatures around 9–16°C (48–61°F).
