Race Description
The Rio de Janeiro Marathon takes place along the famous coastline of Rio de Janeiro, offering runners spectacular ocean views throughout the race. The course follows a scenic point-to-point route along the city’s waterfront, passing iconic beaches such as Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. Participants run beside the Atlantic Ocean while enjoying views of Rio’s surrounding mountains and coastal landscapes. The route combines seaside roads with sections through lively city neighborhoods. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, the race features enthusiastic local crowds and energetic Brazilian music along the course. The terrain is mostly flat with some gentle rolling sections.
