Race Description
The Reykjavik Marathon offers a scenic coastal course through Iceland’s capital, combining city streets with open views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding mountains. Starting in central Reykjavik, the route takes runners past colorful neighborhoods, the harbor area, and along extended waterfront sections with expansive views. The terrain features gentle rolling hills throughout, with a few longer gradual inclines in the first half and more exposed coastal running in the second half where wind can be a factor. The course remains runnable but requires steady pacing due to the constant undulation. The finish returns to the city center, often with strong local support.
