Race Description
The New York City Marathon is a point-to-point course that runs through all five boroughs of New York City: Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Manhattan. The race begins on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge with a significant early climb before descending into Brooklyn, where runners experience long, flat stretches through diverse neighborhoods. The course then crosses into Queens and the Bronx before entering Manhattan for the final miles, including the climb over the Queensboro Bridge and the rolling terrain along Fifth Avenue. The race finishes in Central Park, where runners encounter gentle undulations to the finish. The course is entirely on paved roads and is known for its challenging bridges, varied terrain, and unmatched crowd support throughout.
