Race Description
The Mumbai Marathon is one of Asia’s most prestigious road races, taking runners through the heart of India’s largest city along a course filled with historic landmarks and coastal scenery. The race starts outside Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus at approximately 10 m elevation and finishes at Azad Maidan at around 10 m, creating a loop-style route that returns runners to central Mumbai. The course passes many of the city’s most famous locations including Marine Drive, Girgaon Chowpatty, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Haji Ali Dargah, the Bandra–Worli Sea Link area, and sections of the new Coastal Road. While much of the route along Marine Drive is flat and fast, runners encounter notable climbs around Peddar Road and Kemp’s Corner early in the race and again in the final kilometers, which often become decisive points in the race. The race takes place during Mumbai’s cooler winter season, with typical temperatures around 68°F (20°C), average highs near 84°F (29°C), and lows around 61°F (16°C).
