Race Description
The Mont Blanc Marathon is one of Europe’s most iconic mountain races, held in the French Alps around Chamonix. The race starts and finishes at Place du Triangle de l’Amitié in Chamonix (Start and finish at ~1,040 m). The course leads runners through alpine forests, mountain trails, and high-altitude terrain while offering constant views of the Mont Blanc massif. The first section follows relatively fast trails before the course climbs steeply toward Aiguillette des Posettes, the main difficulty of the race and the highest point of the route. After descending into alpine valleys, runners face additional climbs through technical mountain terrain before returning toward Chamonix. The race attracts elite trail runners and experienced mountain athletes from around the world. With dramatic scenery and demanding climbs, the Mont Blanc Marathon is considered one of the most spectacular mountain marathons in Europe.
