Race Description
The Madrid Marathon takes place in Spain’s capital and is known for its scenic but challenging course through the city’s historic streets. The race begins in central Madrid and initially climbs toward the northern districts before gradually descending through several neighborhoods. Runners pass major landmarks and wide avenues while moving through areas such as Chamartín and the financial district. Mid-race sections include rolling terrain as the course heads toward the western part of the city and the Casa de Campo park area. The final kilometers bring runners back toward the city center with noticeable uphill sections before the finish in central Madrid. Due to the continuous undulations and elevation changes, the Madrid Marathon is considered one of the more demanding city marathons in Europe.
