Race Description
What began in 2002 with 5,000 running enthusiasts has long since developed into the largest running event in Upper Austria. Today the Oberbank Linz Danube Marathon attracts around 20,000 participants and over 100,000 spectators from almost 80 nations, making it not only a sporting highlight but also an important economic factor and tourism magnet. The start on the imposing Voest Bridge gives runners goosebumps every year, before the course passes through some of the city's most beautiful squares. Despite its size, the event retains its family character, with an individually tailored service highly appreciated by participants and an excellent price-performance ratio. The marathon course starts at 9:30am and is accompanied by music zones, cheering crowds and a vibrant festival atmosphere on the Linzer Hauptplatz finish area. The race weekend includes a half marathon, quarter marathon, relay marathon, 5K, handbike half marathon, inline skating half marathon and Junior Marathon, as well as a Marathon Sports Fair at the TipsArena on the Friday and Saturday. The 2026 edition also hosted the Austrian Marathon National Championship.
