Race Description
The Leipzig Marathon takes place in Leipzig, Germany, with a course designed to pass many of the city’s historic and cultural landmarks. The race starts near the Red Bull Arena and the Quarterback Arena and heads through central Leipzig, passing locations such as the New Town Hall, Augustusplatz, the Gewandhaus concert hall, the Leipzig Opera, and the Krochhochhaus. The route continues along Prager Straße toward the old trade fair grounds and the Monument to the Battle of the Nations before looping through areas near the German National Library and Deutscher Platz. Later sections pass the southern suburbs, Clara Zetkin Park, and the rivers of the Leipzig floodplain before returning toward the finish near the stadium area. The course is mostly flat with gentle elevation changes throughout.
