Race Description
The Leiden Marathon takes place in Leiden, Netherlands, and offers a scenic and flat course through both the historic city center and the surrounding Dutch countryside. The race starts in the heart of Leiden and quickly takes runners along canals, past traditional windmills, and through narrow historic streets. The course then heads out into the surrounding region, passing through small villages, open fields, and typical Dutch polder landscapes. Long straight sections and rural roads dominate the middle part of the race before runners return toward Leiden. The final kilometers bring participants back into the city center, finishing in a lively atmosphere with strong local support. The course is known for being very flat and suitable for fast times.
