Often cited as one of the toughest marathons in the United States, the Life Time Leadville Trail Marathon challenges runners with 26.4 miles of rugged dirt roads and single-track trails through the historic mining district of Leadville, Colorado. The course is defined by its brutal altitude and steep gradients, featuring a grueling climb to Mosquito Pass, which stands at an elevation of 13,185 feet, making it the highest continuous pass in the country. Participants must possess significant grit and determination to navigate the technical terrain and thin air, creating an endurance experience that tests even the most seasoned trail runners.
