Race Description
The Kauai Marathon takes place on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, starting and finishing in the resort community of Poipu on the island’s sunny southern coast. The course follows the island’s scenic coastline and passes through lush tropical landscapes, offering views of beaches, volcanic peaks and rainforests. Early in the race runners pass through the famous Tunnel of Trees before continuing inland through green countryside areas. The route then heads toward Lawai before climbing to Kalaheo, where runners are rewarded with sweeping ocean views. After this climb, the final miles gradually descend back toward the coast. The race combines rolling terrain with spectacular island scenery throughout the course. Known for its tropical setting and welcoming atmosphere, the event attracts runners from around the world. The combination of ocean views, rainforest landscapes and Hawaiian culture makes it one of the most scenic marathons in the United States.
