Race Description
The Istanbul Marathon highlights the unique character of Turkey’s historic metropolis as the only marathon in the world that spans two continents. The course takes runners from the Asian side of the city across the spectacular Bosphorus Bridge into Europe, before following sections of the Bosphorus strait and the Golden Horn. Participants pass vibrant neighborhoods and important cultural landmarks throughout the route, including the Dolmabahçe Palace, the Hagia Sophia, and the Blue Mosque, before finishing at the ancient Roman Hippodrome. The event is part of a large running weekend that includes several distances, such as a 15K and a public fun run, attracting runners of all levels. With a truly international crowd and a deeply historical atmosphere, the race seamlessly combines sport and cultural exchange.
