Race Description
The Honolulu Marathon is one of the world’s most scenic destination races, taking runners along the coastline of Oahu with views of the Pacific Ocean and volcanic landscapes. The course starts on Ala Moana Boulevard at approximately 15 m elevation and finishes at Kapi‘olani Park at around 7 m, following a point-to-point route along Honolulu’s waterfront and through Waikiki. Early miles pass downtown Honolulu and Waikiki Beach before the course heads toward the slopes of Diamond Head. The main elevation changes occur around Diamond Head between miles 7–10 and again near mile 25, where runners encounter the race’s most noticeable climbs before descending back toward the coast. The final kilometers run alongside the ocean through Kapi‘olani Park, where runners finish near the beach in a festive atmosphere.
