Race Description
The Great Ocean Road Marathon takes place along Victoria’s spectacular southern coastline in Australia. The course follows the famous Great Ocean Road between Lorne and Apollo Bay, offering continuous views of cliffs, beaches and the Southern Ocean. Runners pass through coastal forests, seaside towns and dramatic oceanfront scenery throughout the race. The route features several challenging climbs and descents as it winds along the rugged coastline. One of the main climbs leads to Mount Defiance, while the highest point of the course is near Cape Patton. Participants experience a mix of rolling hills and scenic coastal stretches along the route. Known for its breathtaking landscapes, the race is widely regarded as one of the most scenic road marathons in Australia. The combination of ocean views, coastal forests and dramatic cliffs makes it a truly memorable running experience.
