Race Description
The Geneva Marathon offers a scenic 42.195 km course that combines the countryside surrounding Lake Geneva with the historic streets of the city. The race starts in the countryside east of Geneva at an elevation of about 420 m and finishes in central Geneva on Pont du Mont-Blanc at about 387 m, directly opposite the iconic Jet d’Eau fountain on Lake Geneva. The first half of the course runs through quiet rural villages and farmland with views of the surrounding mountains and the lake. The route then gradually returns toward the city, following lakeside roads and residential districts before entering Geneva’s historic center for the final kilometers. Known for its fast and gently rolling layout, the course allows many runners to achieve personal bests. With its blend of countryside scenery and urban landmarks, the Geneva Marathon is widely regarded as one of Switzerland’s most picturesque city marathons.
