Race Description
The Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon offers a scenic coastal race along one of Florida’s most famous oceanfront roads. The course starts in downtown Fort Lauderdale at approximately 2 m elevation and finishes by the beach along the Atlantic Ocean at around 2 m, creating a very flat point-to-point route. Early sections pass through downtown streets before runners reach the coastline and follow long stretches of State Road A1A with continuous ocean views, palm trees, and sea breezes. The course also includes a loop through Birch State Park in the early miles before returning to the beachfront road for the remainder of the race. The race typically takes place in warm winter conditions, with average temperatures around 67°F (19°C), average highs near 76°F (24°C), and average lows around 58°F (14°C).
