Race Description
The Dresden Marathon takes place in the historic city of Dresden in eastern Germany. The course follows the banks of the Elbe River and passes many of the city’s most famous landmarks, including the Frauenkirche, Semper Opera House and Zwinger Palace. Runners travel through both the historic Old Town and the lively Neustadt district while enjoying scenic riverside sections. The route also crosses the Waldschlösschen Bridge and passes through the Großer Garten park. Known for its flat and fast layout, the marathon is run in two loops with much of the second lap following the first. More than 95% of the course is on asphalt, making it popular for personal best attempts. The combination of baroque architecture, green parks and river views creates a unique city marathon atmosphere. With its historic setting and supportive spectators, the Dresden Marathon offers a memorable running experience in Germany.
