Race Description
The Cologne Marathon takes place in the city of Köln and follows a flat, single-loop course through its historic center and surrounding districts. The route passes many of the city’s key landmarks, including the Cologne Cathedral, and features long, wide streets that allow for steady pacing. The course profile is largely flat with only gentle undulations spread evenly throughout, and no sustained climbs. Elevation remains consistent for most of the race, with minor variations between approximately 42 and 53 meters above sea level. The start and finish are close in elevation, and the smooth layout makes it well suited for runners targeting a fast and controlled performance.
