Race Description
The Carlsbad Marathon features a scenic two-loop, out-and-back course that is gently rolling, with over 29 kilometers running alongside the Pacific Ocean. Starting at The Shoppes at Carlsbad, the race begins by passing the peaceful Buena Vista Lagoon before building energy through the lively streets of Carlsbad Village, lined with spectators, shops, and cafés. Around the 5-kilometer mark, the course opens up to sweeping ocean views, with rolling hills guiding runners along coastal roads past sandy beaches and crashing surf. The route heads south to La Costa Avenue before turning back north, then repeats for a second loop, with a final turnaround at Breakwater Road leading runners along the coastline to the finish.
