Race Description
The Cairns Marathon takes place in tropical Far North Queensland, Australia, along the city’s scenic waterfront. The course runs through Cairns’ coastal areas, including the Cairns Esplanade overlooking the Coral Sea. Runners pass leafy neighborhoods and quiet seaside roads while enjoying views of surrounding rainforest and mountains. The marathon follows a multi-lap format with four loops of the course, while the half marathon completes two laps. This design creates a relatively flat and fast route with regular spectator support and on-course entertainment. The race atmosphere is lively, with many opportunities to see fellow runners along the looped course. Known for its warm climate and tropical scenery, the event attracts participants from across Australia and abroad. The combination of ocean views, palm-lined streets and a festive local crowd makes the Cairns Marathon a distinctive Australian running experience.
