Race Description
The Amsterdam Marathon takes place in the Netherlands’ capital and features a flat, fast course that starts and finishes in the Olympic Stadium. The route follows parts of the 1928 Olympic course and runs along the Amstel River, passing stately mansions, windmills, and open countryside sections before returning toward the city center. Runners experience a mix of urban and rural scenery, with long, straight stretches that support consistent pacing. The course is known for its smooth layout and minimal elevation changes, with only very slight undulations throughout and no sustained climbs, making it one of Europe’s fastest marathon courses.
